We have learn in the previous article that we can get involved in the Open Source Project, which is available on the Android page, the operating system created by Google for their mobile devices.
The best thing which can come when using an open source technology is that you can benefit of some codes, algorithms and procedures which have been already developed and tested by someone else before you and the best thing ever is that you don’t have to pay to use them. Although, to join the group of the Google developers, you have to be registered. You can see more at this page.
But let’s return to the Open Source Project. What does this means? How “open” open really is? Can we get the codes without not doing anything in return? The answer is simple: Yes. But it would be very helpful if you could give a hand, which is to report the bugs if you discover them and to create other lines of codes, when you are capable of. If you simply want to learn how to develop codes for creating applications and want to see how it is like to work in a real developers environment, you are invited to join the group and this is it.
The programs that are used here are distributed freely to all the Google developers worldwide. For Google, the code is the king as they say and you are invited to read the Life as a Patch phylosophy, and to use the tools that are included in the SDK system. All those who need answers to their questions can use the forums or the groups that are destined to help the developers with everything they need. You need a tool for something or you simply can’t figure out how to solve a problem? Don’t worry, there might be somebody who has the same problem as you and which is not afraid to show the results to others.
Many of those who create codes are afraid to say they have created a code, a new code, because they don’t have so many computers, running all the OS there is on the market, and also they do not test the app on every browser. This means that the app or the program is not tested sufficiently, not that it is not good.11
