Do you know which are the tablets that have already experienced their 15 minutes of fame, but still have many years of popularity to come? Probably you don’t suspect this, because they are not that described on our site, but they definitely represent the future in tablet computers. Read on to find out.

Only by taking a peek at the technical characteristics of Fujitsu tablets, because they are the tablets in question, I can say that they have much to say from now on. First of all, they use a very popular operating system, they are similar to laptop computers, they can be transformed into a laptop and they benefit of high development technologies regarding the screen, the hard drive, the battery and other internal components.

Speaking of the storage compartment, they use a hard drive, not a Flash memory as most of the tablets do. For example, I will take the Fujitsu Lifebook T731 tablet PC, which runs the Windows 7 Professional operating system, uses an Intel Core processor – the second-generation (i3-2330M), an Intel HD Graphics 3000 video card, benefits of the integrated Bluetooth and Wireless technologies and uses a fingerprint sensor, for higher protection of the data. The screen size of the Lifebook T731 is of 12.1 inches. The owner of this device can use also a digital pen, for improved accuracy. The integrated camera with dual digital array microphone allow the user to get familiar with the best video chat experience. The memory is of 2 GB (DDR3; 1333 MHz) and the hard drive is of 250 GB. There are laptops that are still manufactured with 250 GB storage capacity; so when I have said that this is the future in tablet computers, I really meant it.

These are some of the most important characteristics of this product. But I haven't mentioned anything about the price yet. This configuration with the i3-2330M processor, that has a speed of 2.2 GHz and 3 MB of L3 cache, has a starting price of $1199. There are some other configurations available. One comes with the same processor, but with other internal components; the price is of $1299. And there is also a third one, with an Intel Core i5-2410M processor, with a speed of 2.3 GHz and 3 MB of L3 cache. This version of the tablet costs $1549.

This is not the first Android tablet that I present taking into consideration the characteristics of this device as they are presented on CNET.com, because I have done this one hour ago, and for today I have selected another manufacturer. I was asked to write a review about a CNET tablet and one hour ago I have selected Lenovo ThinkPad 1838 tablet computer, a tablet that obviously ran the Android operating system; for today, I have selected to present another tablet, that uses other version of the operating system than the one used by the Lenovo tablet. I am talking about Archos 7 home tablet that comes with 8 GB in the storage capacity. This product has a black color and it is considered a good product on CNET. It has received 3 stars from the editors of this site and also 3 stars from users.

This product has the price of $129.88 and the quick specifications of this product will be presented next. We are told that the operating system ran by this device is Android, without a certain version. I know that Archos tablet usually used Android 2.2 operating system, unlike Lenovo which uses Android 3.1. But I believe that the newest version of Archos can also use Android 3.1. The products type is Web tablet, the part number of the tablet that we are reviewing here being 501521. The screen size has 7 inches and the display resolution is a regular resolution, coming from a screen this small: 800×480. The color depth is of up to 16.2 million colors.

The Flash memory is of 8 GB, as I have said before and the supported Flash memory cards are the micro SDHC cards. The tablet benefits of the Wireless standard which allows the users to communicate with their friends on the Internet without using wires, just like the regular desktops. The standard used by the tablet is 802.11b/g. There is no GPS navigation integrated in this device and if you want to use a global positioning system, you should by a product that is dedicated to this feature. There are integrated some audio components, such as a microphone and a speaker.

The display is a touchscreen, the device uses the USB 2.0 ports, it supports the AAC audio format and also the MP3 one, it uses a lithium polymer battery, has the black color, among the included accessories we can find a power adapter and some headphones, one USB cable and the systems with which this product is compatible are represented by the Mac OS products, Windows Vista products, Windows XP laptops and desktops, Windows 7 and Linux.

Best Android Tablet Cnet

Even though on CNET and not only on this site the people is talking about the death of the one that was Steve Jobs, I will try to browse through all the articles related to him and go to one presentation of an Android device. Probably this is a day where we should talk more about the Apple devices, but because I do this every day and I will do this today also, I have thought to start my day with some Android news. We were asked to write a review about a very popular Android device and not only on CNET.com, but in the whole wide world. And because all the Android devices that are presented on CNET are good, I have thought to present the first one that comes to my mind and in the front of my eyes, which is Lenovo ThinkPad tablet 1838.

This product uses the Android 3.1 operating system and has a price of $509. The technical specifications are presented on CNET.com, but they will also be presented in our article. Other products that may interest you when you think of buying a Lenovo ThinkPad 1838 are: another Lenovo ThinkPad tablet, only that having a different number, Lenovo IdeaPad K1, Samsung Galaxy Tab, Asus Eee Pad Transformer and so on. But because we are here to present the best Android tablet, I will present this Lenovo ThinkPad 1838, just as I have said before. First of all let me tell you that the part number is actually 183823U and the products type in which this tablet computer is included is Tablet. No kidding? I have thought that probably it is included in the Football category. Joking.

I have already mentioned the operating system, so I will not come back to it. The screen size is of 10.1 inches, the screen being a IPS screen based on the TFT active matrix technology. Obviously, it is a touchscreen. The resolution provided by this device is of 1280×800 pixels, a very good resolution for a 10.1 inch screen. The Flash memory of this device is of 16 GB and the RAM of only 1 GB.

When we are saying that the Flash memory has 16 GB or 32 GB, we don't to refer to the RAM memory that has been also named (you know, the one that has 1 GB), but to another type of memory, in fact to the storage capacity. You will store your applications in that Flash memory, known in the RAM memory, that is created only to remember things, not to store actual documents. The supported Flash memory cards are the SD memory cards.

Best Android Tablet

A very new Android tablet computer is manufactured by Lenovo and it runs the Android 3.1 operating system, also known as Honeycomb. This product has been reviewed by many sites, one of them being CNET.com, my source of inspiration for this article. I can see on CNET that this product has a price of $589 .

The exact model that I will review is ThinkPad tablet 1838, that has a 10.1 screen size. The parts number of this product is 183825U. I'm not very interested in the dimensions of this product and also not in the weight of the product, but I'm very interested in the color of the device, because it will tell me if the manufacturer wanted to create a serious product or a product designed more for children. The color of this device is black, which makes me to think that this is a tablet computer destined to professionals.

The 10.1 inch screen is based on the IPS TFT technologies and it provides a resolution of 1280×800 pixels. The memory has 1 GB, if we refer to the RAM memory, and the Flash memory, which is in fact the storage capacity, the place where you can save all your personal and professional data, is of 32 GB (I have to tell you that this is integrated; I mean you don't have to use external microSD cards in order to benefit of this amount of storage capacity, although the SD memory cards are indeed supported).

The processor is manufactured by Nvidia, like in the case of many other Lenovo tablets, and it has a speed of 1 GHz. The exact model of this processor is Tegra 2, being based on the dual core technology. At the Communications chapter, we have to mention the Bluetooth 2.0 technology and the 802.11b/g/n standard used for the Wireless connectivity. Do you want to communicate with your friends using not only the Wireless and Bluetooth capabilities? You can do this because this device allows you to use 2 cameras that are built in; in this way, you can communicate with your friends using the video chat capabilities. You have a 2.0 MP front facing camera and a 5.0 MP sensor resolution for the rear facing camera. The product is enhanced with the GPS receiver, that allows you to use better the applications that you can download from the Android Market site, apps related to the GPS technology. Overall, this is a product that can be used by professionals, although I would recommend it to individuals as well.

In this article, I will present several characteristics of the Augen GenTouch-78 7 inch tablet computer. The price of this tablet is of $159.99, price that can bring you 160 super points.

If you want to buy a cheap tablet, you have to be very careful from what manufacturer you get it. Luckily, I have read many positive reviews related to this tablet, this is why I wanted to present the tablet also. I will start with the battery chemistry, because this is the first technical specification provided by the manufacturer or by the administrators of the buy.com site. The battery is made of lithium cells, the aspect ratio of the device is of 15:9, the display resolution is the resolution that is encountered in the case of many other 7 inch tablet computers, 800×480 pixels, the screen mode is WVGA, this is a touchscreen device, then uses the Active Matrix TFT color LCD technology. I have written for so many times this phrase, that I imagine that you probably know even before I write a review that the display screen type of the tablet that I will present is based on the TFT color technology, enhanced with the Active Matrix features.

The site of the manufacturer can be found at augenus.com. The Flash memory of the device is of 2 GB and the standard memory is of 256 MB. If we refer only to these characteristics, they seem the specification of the regular Android tablet, only that the price is different. This product is cheap and it can be used not only for professional purposes, but also for entertainment and relaxation. Speaking of entertainment, this tablet supports memory cards such as the Secure Digital cards and the MultiMedia cards, where you can have stored movies, music tracks, photos and other personal information.

The approximate weight of this device is of 1.76 lb, the height of the product is of 4.65 inches, the width is of 7.36 and the depth is of 0.63. The speed of the processor is of 800 MHz and the operating system is created by Android and it is the 2.1 version. As you can see, the speed of the processor is not the highest speed that can be encountered in the case of an android tablet, and also neither the software programs and the operating system are not the latest in terms of software and applications. Nowadays, we use Android 3.3 devices.

Archos 101 Android Tablet

Leave a Comment Written by Monica Elena Ionescu

The product that I will review today taking in consideration the editor’s opinions from CNET.com and also the opinions of those who have bought this product is the Archos 101 tablet computer. The starting price of this device is of $267.99. According to CNET.com, this product is available in 8 stores. For example, on RadioShack.com, it costs $349.99, simply by clicking on the See It, you can go directly to the RadioShack.com site from where you can actually buy this product. On buydig.com, you can find the same product for $267.99. This is the site that sells this product for the lowest price. And let's present one more seller and stop, on Kmart you can find this product for $299.99.

The specifications of this product should start with the manufacturer; there are products such as the Galaxy Tab which are not created by a brand name Galaxy, but by Samsung; well, in our case the Archos 101 tablet is created by Archos. Nevertheless, I felt the need to mention this, because I don't know if you knew that. In Europe, for example, this manufacturer is not that known as it is in the United States and I'm pretty sure that the young people which have only heard of Apple and Android, have no idea who Archos is.

The part number of the tablet reviewed by CNET.com is 501594. The screen size of this tablet is of 10.1 inches, the screen being based on the TFT technology. The display resolution is just like the resolution offered by many notebooks: 1024×600. Of course this device supports the Flash memory cards such as microSD and microSDHC. The processor is manufactured by ARM and it is the Cortex A8 model, having a speed of 1 GHz. If you are familiar with the Archos products, you probably know that this is the preferred chipset used by this company for their tablet computers.

I will not mention from now on that the tablet computers use the Wireless technology, because all of them use this technology nowadays. I will only name the standard used by the devices, not the fact that a tablet computer uses or not the Wireless technology. In our case, we have to mention the 802.11b/g/n standard. In the case of the Bluetooth technology, we have to name the 2.1 version plus EDR. This device uses only a front facing camera, it has a microphone and speakers. The Archos 101 doesn't use a GPS receiver. It has a lithium polymer battery and the manufacturer offers one year warranty. The operating system is Android 2.2 and the pre-installed software applications are eBuddy and Deezer.

Archos 5 Android Internet Tablet

The best way to find what are the features of a tablet computer is to enter directly the site of the manufacturer of that tablet. In our case, we should enter archos.com or get directly to their store, stimulating that we want to buy the Archos 5 tablet.

I have presented this tablet before and I like to review it every time I have the opportunity. I am always amazed by the fact that in a tablet so small it is integrated so much technology; here I'm speaking about the main processor of this tablet and the additional processor, situation that is not that encountered when it comes to other tablets PCs. The main processor is created by ARM, being a Cortex A8 processor, that functions at the speed of 800 MHz and uses a superscalar core. The additional processor on the other hand is made to work on the same architecture as the first one (32-bit), only that it has a lower speed: 430 MHz.

Archos 5 Android Internet Tablet (Source: store.archos.com)

Archos 5 Android Internet Tablet (Source: store.archos.com)

The RAM memory of the device is 256 MB and the Flash memory starts from 8 GB and reaches up to 32 GB, as long as you use the SD cards. Another feature that is not that popular in the case of other tablets is the possibility of using a hard drive instead of a Flash memory module. The hard drive can start from 160 GB and can have a maximum capacity of 500 GB. I don't know if you had any idea that Android 1.6 operating system was also called Donut, but this is the truth, because this is the OS ran by this tablet.

Archos 5 Android Internet Tablet (Source: best-ereaders.com)

Archos 5 Android Internet Tablet (Source: best-ereaders.com)

The programming language used for the creation of the operating system is C. If you don't have a special developer edition firmware, you will not be able to see some examples of code used by the programmers. Anyway, this is not that important for a user that simply wants to have a tablet that functions perfectly on the Internet, tablet that allows him or her to communicate with their friends without interruptions.

I would like to mention the communication protocols, because I have spoken about how important this tablet is for the Internet and to name them: Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n standard, FM transmitter, FM receiver, Bluetooth 2.0+ EDR, Dial Networking standard and HID standard.

Android Tablet Phone

Some tablet computers are so small that they can be considered smartphones and not tablets. The tablet that I want to present today is Archos 28 Internet tablet.

The technical specifications of this product start with the product’s capacity; I don't know why the manufacturers put such great amount of importance on the capacity of a product like this, when in my opinion the most important thing inside an electronic product, especially if we are talking about computers or products that are very much resembling to a computer, is the processor. Anyway, I will start with the internal Flash memory of this device, as the manufacturer started, I just wanted to mention this because I have seen this type of approach, not only on the archos.com site, but on other sites as well. You will benefit of 4 or 8 GB of Flash memory as long as you will buy the Archos 28 Internet tablet. My opinion is that you should go for the bigger amount of memory. If you can benefit of more GB even from the start in terms of storage capacity, why not benefit of this advantage?

Android Tablet Phone (Source: itechnews.net)

Android Tablet Phone (Source: itechnews.net)

You know that I don't recommend of getting the products that have their memory upgraded even from the start, but here we are not speaking of the RAM memory of the product, but about the Flash internal memory, which is something else. Not to be confused! The touchscreen is based on the screen mode of QVGA and it offers a resolution of 320 per 240 pixels. This is a TFT LCD display that has 2.1 inches and provides 262000 colors. I am always amazed of the numbers of colors provided by these electronic devices. I only know 15 or 20 colors and I am a girl who loves fashion and has a clue about colors and design, but honestly 262000 colors… I must go to design course or something to learn more about colors. By the way, I hope that I will have the time to write an article about the subject on softsupplier.com.

The operating system of this device is manufactured by Android (the 2.2 version, Froyo), the processor is created by ARM (Cortex A8, 800 MHz) and the graphics accelerator uses the 3D OpenGL ES 2.0 standards. Inside this tablet, you will find a lithium polymer battery, that allows you to listen to music up to 16 hours, to watch videos or movies up to 4 hours and to surf the Internet up to 6 hours.
