I am glad that our users are not only interested in the iPad, Android devices or HP tablet computers. There are on the market some other products that must benefit of our appreciation, just like the Fujitsu tablets. These products are very popular in Asia and they can become popular in the United States and in Europe if they are better promoted.

This company manufactures convertible tablet PCs, Slate PCs, thin and light products, desktop replacements, other portable devices and servers. The starting price of a convertible tablet is of $999 and the starting price of a Slate PC is of $729. Because I believe that you are interested more in a cheaper product, I will present a Slate PC in this article and in my future one, a convertible tablet. The products that are included in the Slate PC category on shopfujitsu.com are the Stylistic Q550 Slate PC, which has the starting price that I have already mentioned and the Stylistic Q550 Slate PC, that costs $849.

Only by taking a peek at the technical characteristics of Fujitsu tablets, because they are the tablets in question, I can say that they have much to say from now on. First of all, they use a very popular operating system, they are similar to laptop computers, they can be transformed into a laptop and they benefit of high development technologies regarding the screen, the hard drive, the battery and other internal components.

Speaking of the storage compartment, they use a hard drive, not a Flash memory as most of the tablets do. For example, I will take the Fujitsu Lifebook T731 tablet PC, which runs the Windows 7 Professional operating system, uses an Intel Core processor – the second-generation (i3-2330M), an Intel HD Graphics 3000 video card, benefits of the integrated Bluetooth and Wireless technologies and uses a fingerprint sensor, for higher protection of the data. These are some of the most important characteristics of this product. But I haven't mentioned anything about the price yet. And there is also a third one, with an Intel Core i5-2410M processor, with a speed of 2.3 GHz and 3 MB of L3 cache. This version of the tablet costs $1549.

Welcome to another article on this site, article where I will compare the Android tablet chipsets. I will refer only to the Android tablets that can be found on overstock.com. At the same time, I would like to make a comparison of the prices of these tablets, because a large amount of the price of a tablet is represented by the price of the processor and chipset of course.

The first tablet that is taken into consideration is ViewSonic ViewPad 7, a tablet that costs €366.34. The chipset model of this device is MSM7227 and the chipset manufacturer is Qualcomm. The manufacturer of the processor is ARM and the processor type is ARM11. At the same time, I would like to mention the speed of the processor, which is of 600 MHz.

The next tablet is Azpen, a tablet that has a screen size of 10.1 inches in diagonal and which can run at the same time 2 operating systems (a very interesting tablet that is sold for €425.18), these systems being Windows 7 and Android tablet computer operating system. The processor is Intel Atom N455 and the chipset is Intel NM10 Express.

The next tablet is another one created by Azpen, only that this one has only 7 inches in diagonal and costs €132.65. On overstock.com, at the technical details, we don't get information about the processor and the chipset, which makes me think that they are the same as in the previous case.

The last tablet that I present here is Acer Iconia A500, which has the processor created by Nvidia, the processor being Tegra 250, having a speed of 1 GHz. It has a dual core and a cache of 1 MB.

This tablet usually runs the genuine Windows 7 Professional operating system, but as long as you want the tablet to run an Android operating system, you can discuss with the manufacturers of this product and see if this is possible. It would be a shame to get a tablet that uses a Microsoft operating system and to uninstall this system simply because you want to run another one. The system runs on 32 bits. And think that some of the applications that are already installed in this device maybe will not work with the new system, not mentioning that probably you will have to pay for some of the applications that come for free if you agree with the Microsoft operating system, that is already included in the package, so to speak.

The processor of this tablet is created by Intel and it is an Intel Atom processor Z450, running at 1.86 GHz and having 512 KB of L2 cache. The speed of the front side bus is of 533 MHz. The chipset is an Intel System Controller Hub US15W. The weight of the product is of 1.5 lb. The memory that you will receive is the same thing as the maximum memory, because you don't have the approval of the manufacturer to upgrade the memory. I am talking about 2 GB of RAM, that functions at the maximum speed of 533 MHz, the exact speed of the front side bus. This is created using the DDR2 technology. The internal drive is represented by a solid-state Flash module that has up to 64 GB. There is also an optical drive taken into consideration, which is represented by the possibility of connecting some external CD or DVD players using the USB connectors. The Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500 does all the work when it comes to great graphics.

It may not be gramatically correct to use the words “mobile” and “tablet” together. As long as you refer to the tablet computer, it means that you refer to a portable, thus mobile product. Think that the tablet computers are small electronic products, that have as main purpose to be portable and used by those who travel a lot. Not even the laptop computers, which are larger, are not used all the time at an office or on your own home desk. The laptops also are portable and used for this feature of theirs.

Nevertheless, if you like to use the terms together, you're free to do whatever you want. In this article, I will present a ViewSonic product, namely the ViewPad 10 inch tablet PC. This has a multitouch screen, an Intel Atom Pine Trail-M N455 processor, that runs at a speed of 1.66 GHz, 1 GB of RAM, uses the Bluetooth technology and has a 1.3 MP camera. The operating system of this device is something that you have not seen before: the operating system is created by Microsoft and it is the Windows 7 Home Premium OS, but the tablet has also some features created by Google Android for their 1.6 version of the operating system.

There are many Android 2.2 tablets on market and even though the Android 3.0 version has been released some months ago, the 2.2 tablets are still very searched for. One of the manufacturer that creates Android 2.2 tablets is ViewSonic. Of course, they create the hardware components, the software programs, meaning the operating system being created by someone else (by Google-Android), but the hardware is usually connected to the software.

I mean, if you design a certain device, that is supposed to run Android 2.2, then that device may or may not be able to run Android 3.0 that easily. There are cases in which, with all the upgrades that you can bring to your device, that device will never run a certain operating system or a certain application. This is why I said the hardware is very connected to the software components. And when these are not made by the same company, like Apple does, there can appear some issues. Luckily for many, the Android 2.2 Froyo operating system is still very powerful and in many situations, if the user wants that, it can be upgraded to a later version, without too many headaches.

The ViewSonic company did a great job when creating the ViewPad tablet, that has only 7 inches in diagonal, that uses the Google Mobile Services and which uses an ARM11 processor. If you read our reviews, then I think you know by now that ARM is the manufacturer of processors for tablets, just like Intel creates processor and all sort of chips for personal computers. In fact, Intel is the parent of the microprocessors, used in general in personal computers, while ARM creates chips for smaller devices, based on the collaboration with Qualcomm.

The speed of the processor is of 600 MHz. You benefit of the Wireless and Bluetooth technologies, and also of the assisted GPS technology, used normally by cellular phones, not by tablets. Yes, there are cases when the tablets use the GPS applications, but only when their users download speciffic programs from the Internet or when they buy those programs and install them in their devices. In this case, the GPS comes along with the tablet, along with the OS and all. If you are tired of using a regular eReader, start using this device as an eReader, because it is the perfect solution, being able to deliver TXT files, HTML and EPUB files, as well as PDF files at a high resolution.
