I am glad that our users are not only interested in the iPad, Android devices or HP tablet computers. Are you interested in all devices manufactured by Archos, which run the Android 2.2 operating system? Because I don't know if a product can use this OS when it is upgraded, just like the Microsoft Windows XP computers can use Windows 7 and I don't want to make you confused. For example, on Amazon.com, you can find a product created by this manufacturer that you have requested us to write a review about, product that is known as Arnova, only that on Amazon, it is said that this electronic device runs with Android 2.1 operating system. I don't know if the user that has bought this product from Amazon upgraded the operating system and I don't know either if you can do this when speaking about the Arnova tablet computer manufactured by Archos.

There are products on Amazon and not only, that have within their descriptions this one also: with the possibility of upgrading to Android x.x (I will not mention any version of this operating system; I just wanted to provide a short example). So, there are many tablet computers in this case which can run the Android 2.2 operating system. Even those that initially ran Android 2.0 may be able to use Android 2.2 or Android 3.0, if they are properly updated.

I was very curious to see why I am not able to find an Android 2.2 device manufactured by Archos on Amazon, because it seemed that no matter how hard I have tried, I wasn't able to find a product that ran this operating system (I mean this version of this operating system). I have discovered that Archos 32 comes with Android 2.1 (which was probably upgradable), only that I was not satisfied with this answer and I wanted to find a product that actually runs Android 2.2, as our reader requested us. And because I remembered that I have written about this type of product before and I knew that this tablet computer runs the Froyo version of the Android operating system, which is also known as the 2.2 version, I have entered the official site of the manufacturer and search for more information related to the software programs ran by this device.

You know how Dell always recommends Microsoft Windows, and they do it for a good reason, because the Microsoft systems are very good; well, it seems that in the case of Dell Streak 7, they have made a collaboration with Android, because this tablet computer runs the Android 2.2 operating system, also known as Froyo.

If you enter the British version of the Dell.com site, you will see that this tablet computer has been reviewed as having 3 stars and a half, the price of a tablet like this being of 198.5 GBP. The LS is enhanced with the Over The Air Upgrade Capability. This is the first feature of this tablet computer that you see when you click on tech specs, in order to see the details of this product. The processor is manufactured by Nvidia (Tegra 2), the display has 7 inches, which makes this tablet computer the perfect mobile device, the screen mode is WVGA and the resolution provided by this tablet is the resolution provided by any other 7 inch tablet, 800×480. Here we are talking about capacitive multitouch screen, that comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass, a wonder of technology.

Let's maintain the same order of the specifications and let's start with the processor. This is a Telechips TTC8902 Central processing unit that has a speed of 800 MHz. On the official Archos site, you can find any tablet computer that has been created by this company. This product creates Android tablets and Windows tablets and e-readers alike. Among the most popular Android tablets, we can name the G9 tablets: Archos 80 and Archos 100. Then, we have the Internet tablets: Archos 101, Archos 70, Archos 43, Archos 32, Archos 28 and Archos 48.

If we refer only to the Windows tablets, we can mention the Archos 9 tablet PC. That e-readers include Archos 70 e-reader and Archos 70c e-reader. Just like you don’t install a Mac OS on a Windows computer, it is also not recommended to install the Linux operating system on a device that has Android installed. And why would you do this? The Android devices are among some of the best in the whole world. I know that the Linux operating system is free, but if you get an Android tablet, you pay the money for that tablet, why would you want to change the operating system? I hope you realize that you switch from an operating system for which you paid a certain amount of money to a system that you can get for free from the Internet.

If you want a tablet that runs the Linux system, you should get a tablet that has this system installed from the first moment. It is difficult to change an operating system. It is difficult enough to upgrade an OS, not mentioning changing the entire operating system from a system created by a certain manufacturer to a system created by other manufacturer.

I have seen on this site that there is a tablet that comes with the Linux system installed, for which you will have to pay around $500. The name of this tablet is Shogo and this is a very interesting piece of hardware. First of all, the processor of this tablet is an ARM11 Freescale i.MX37 or an ARM Cortex A8 Freescale i.MX51 (there are two possible models, that have different processors), the LCD touchscreen has 10.1 inches, providing a resolution better than the resolution of some laptops (1024×600 pixels), the DDR RAM has 256 MB and the NAND Flash drive has 4 GB.

Until now, so far, so good. The price is a bit high, but this tablet has been named the potential iPad killer. So you have to expect that a tablet named in this way is powerful enough to make the iPad users to switch from the Apple tablets to Shogo. And a tablet that is considered to “kill” the iPad will have a proper price. You cannot say that the iPad killer will cost $50, because no one will buy that. Only the casing of the tablet is $50. The users know these aspects, you cannot fool them. So, a tablet that could possible bring the end for the iPad tablet must have a price that is comparable to the price of the iPad.
